The school quickly established itself as a part of New York&#8217;s performing arts scene and received early support from Broadway members such as Sammy Davis Jr., Dina Merrill, and Carol Channing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 1970, the school had outgrown its original location on East 23rd Street and moved to a new home on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. A few years later, further development led to a move to the Ansonia Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1990, a second building was opened near Lincoln Center, which serves as AMDA&#8217;s main New York location. In 2003, the school expanded westward, opening AMDA Los Angeles. AMDA is the only performing arts college to have earned BFA status with campuses in both New York and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AMDA was the first to introduce an innovative 3-in-1 training method for actors, singers, and dancers, where actors learn to sing and dance, singers learn to dance and act, and dancers learn to sing and act on stage. Throughout its more than 50-year history, AMDA has continued to create innovative performing arts programs that meet the latest trends in the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year, about 1,400 students from all over the world study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. The course curriculum (regardless of specialty) consists of 30-35 hours of weekly classes with additional time for independent work and rehearsals. In this way, the academy prepares students for a creative and competitive career on stage and on screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During their studies, students have the opportunity to build a portfolio. To facilitate this, the American Musical and Dramatic Academy provides excellent facilities, including rehearsal rooms, recording studios, musical instruments, theater stages, filmmaking equipment, and more. This Summer Conservatory provides world-class performing arts training for high schoolers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After four years of study, the AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts awards Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees and also offers two-year professional certificate programs. AMDA in New York, located in the prestigious Upper West Side of Manhattan, offers two-year certificate programs with the option to transfer to the AMDA Los Angeles campus to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you choose a professional conservatory program or a traditional Bachelor of Fine Arts program, you&#8217;ll receive intensive, practice-oriented training from the best and brightest professionals in the field. With its comprehensive level of performing arts training, each program at AMDA offers the opportunity to unleash your full artistic potential. The AMDA curriculum includes core performing arts disciplines: acting, musical theater, and dance theater. The curricula for AMDA programs include important subjects in acting, musical theater, and dance theater. Each academic year has three start dates, and the accelerated intensive programs allow students to complete the course and receive a certificate after four semesters in sixteen months. A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree can be earned in less than three years. To study acting, it&#8217;s not enough to simply have good grades on your diploma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are required to go through an audition and an interview.
