the city&#8217;s best cooks to move in. Inside a block-long former factory in Chelsea, threaded through by the High Line itself, dozens of counters serve everything from hand-pressed adobada tacos to just-shucked oysters \u2014 and grazing through them in a single afternoon remains one of New York&#8217;s great eating projects.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"From_Oreo_Factory_to_Food_Hall\"><\/span>From Oreo Factory to Food Hall<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The brick complex rose in the 1890s as the National Biscuit Company&#8217;s bakery, and the Oreo cookie was invented right here in 1912. Freight trains once rolled straight through the building on the elevated spur that later became the High Line park. After decades of decline, developer Irwin Cohen turned the ground floor into a public market, opened in 1997 with the factory bones intact. Google later bought the building above, but the concourse still belongs to the eaters.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_Order\"><\/span>What to Order<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Start where the longest line is: Los Tacos No. 1, for adobada pork on tortillas made to order. The Lobster Place is a working seafood emporium with a sushi counter and proper lobster rolls; its sit-down sibling Cull &amp; Pistol shucks oysters next door. Miznon, from Israeli chef Eyal Shani, stuffs pillowy pitas and roasts whole charred cauliflower; Very Fresh Noodles hand-pulls its Taiwanese beef soup; Mokbar folds kimchi into ramen. Save room for Fat Witch brownies, Doughnuttery mini doughnuts and halva at Seed + Mill \u2014 or slip down to The Tippler, the cocktail bar hiding beneath the concourse.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Space\"><\/span>The Space<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>A long, dim brick corridor with exposed pipes, steel beams and factory relics: faded biscuit advertisements on the walls, mosaic monograms at the entrances and a fountain welded from discarded drill bits at the centre. Seating is communal and scarce at rush hour \u2014 part of the ritual is eating tacos standing next to a stranger doing exactly the same thing.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_Its_For\"><\/span>Who It&#8217;s For<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Groups who can never agree on one cuisine, High Line walkers refuelling mid-route, families with picky eaters, and food-minded first-timers who want a dozen tastes of the city in one go.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Good_to_Know\"><\/span>Good to Know<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Do I need a reservation?<\/strong> No \u2014 almost everything is counter service. Only sit-down spots like Buddakan and Cull &amp; Pistol take bookings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When is it least crowded?<\/strong> Weekday mornings and mid-afternoon.
